Wastewater Billing Adjustment Policy Revised
The WMU Commission revised Customer Service Polciy and Procedure Number 204.4-
Wastewater Billing Adjustments
at its September 6, 2007 regular meeting.

The revised policy is as follows:

"Wastewater (sewer) billing adjustments (Adjustments) will be considered for water leaks, lawn/landscape watering, or filling/maintenance of swimming pools on any one combined utility bill that exceeds the six-month average wastewater usage as defined below.  Adjustments will be limited to one adjustment (for one month's service) per calendar year and must be requested within 60 days of the first notice due date of the combined utility bill reflecting the high usage.  Adjustments for water leaks must be accompainied by proof-of-repair or sworn statement verifying repair of the leak and type of repair made.  Adjustments will not be considered if the wastewater actually enters the sanitary sewer system.  Wastewater adjustmens will be calculated as follows:

  1. Actual wastewater billing history that exists at the customer's current service address for the six-month usage period from October through March of the preceding year, or
  2. An average of 200 cubic feet of consumption per month per person occupying the service address if no history exists as defined in No. 1 above
  3. The difference between the actual wastewater usage and the calculated average wastewater usage is the potential credit to be applied to the customer's account.

Customer must sign completed wastewater billing adjustment form and provide any necessary documentation.

Final approval of adjustment by Management required before credit issued to customer's account.
