Service - Solid Waste
·      

·         Solid waste collected and transported for disposal was 1,013.52 tons for the month of December 2011.  Average day was 51 tons.  Year-to-date solid waste collection and disposal is 6,592.43 tons; Year-to-date average day solid waste collection and disposal is 53 tons.  Daily averages are based upon calendar days.

 

·         During December 2011, approximately 52 tons of yard waste was diverted from the solid waste stream and landfill disposal resulting in approximate savings of $1,575.60 transportation and tipping fees.

 

·         During December 2011 the trash truck (boom truck) made 191 service calls, collecting 660 cubic yards of trash and large yard waste.  Average day number of service requests was 10.  Year-to-date number of service requests is 2,124.  Year-to-date trash and large yard waste collected is 5,300 cubic yards.

 

·         During December 2011, 20.33 tons of recycling was recycled through WMU’s voluntary drop-off recycling center resulting in approximate savings of $616.00 (landfill disposal cost).

 

·         Following is a count of tonnage and participation for the Holiday Hills Single Stream Curbside Recycling Pick-up.  Dollar amounts are shown on a separate report contained in the Commission packet.

On Pick Up days Curbits need to be at the curb by 7:00 am


Garbage shall not be placed at the curb until after 6:00 p.m. on the day before scheduled collection and containers shall be removed as soon as practicable after collection, but no later than 8:00 p.m. on the day of collection. City Ordinance 14-70 3(b).

Curbside Large Trash Collection

Curbside large trash collection and disposal services is provided to residential customers at no additional cost.  Service is limited to one pickup per month per service address and the customer must call the Transfer Station, (859) 744-1170.

Disposal of Waste at Transfer Station

WMU residential solid waste customers providing evidence of current paid account and personal identification may dispose of solid waste generated at their residential service address at the transfer station at no additional cost.

Residential customers that are unable to provide evidence of current paid account and personal identification shall be charged according to the fees assessed for non-residential and non-WMU solid waste customers.  See Rate Schedules.
